The Fall pulls big audience as 3.5m tune in to first episode


The Fall has quite the following!


Crime thriller The Fall has proven a hit with viewers, with a big audience tuning in to its BBC Two debut.

According to overnight figures the opening episode of the show – which stars Gillian Anderson – scored 3.5m viewers when it was screened at 9pm on Monday night.

And those figures made it the biggest new drama on BBC Two since the second series of Torchwood debuted to 3.7m viewers in 2008.

The ratings are expected to rise even further once consolidated ratings from BBC iPlayer and other platforms are taken into account.

They also made BBC Two the most watched channel in the 9pm timeslot -with BBC One pulling in 2.7m for documentary series The Prisoners, and ITV’s sitcom Vicious shedding another million viewers to finish around the 2m mark.

Meanwhile 2.5m tuned in to the documentary Skint on Channel 4.
