Not the saint, but, the scribe! Read On:

The highly successful author of romantic classics such as The Notebook, A Walk To Remember, Dear John, Nights In Rodanthe, Message In A Bottle and The Last Song, Nicholas Sparks is making his debut on television!

Sparks has sold The Watchers, an original drama concept, to ABC.

The project revolves around the Archangel Raphael, who after spending centuries as a Watcher and invisibly providing support to humans in the time of need, decides to cut off his wings out of love for Sarah, a mortal woman, so that he can truly be with her for the rest of her days. When Sarah’s life is cut short, Rafe is left to wander the Earth solo as a fallen angel. Dependent on the kindness of strangers and hunted by angels from above and below, Rafe travels undercover, performing miracles as he searches for the meaning of loss and clues to Sarah’s fate.

“I’ve always wanted to create a smart, unconventional show about angels on Earth, and ABC is the perfect home for this kind of imaginative, character-driven drama,” said Sparks.

Temple Hill Entertainment, the production company behind the feature adaptation of Sparks’ Dear John, and the upcoming Jake Gyllenhaal starrer, Safe Haven, is on board to produce alongside ABC Studios.

Temple Hill is off to a strong start in television. The feature producer entered the TV arena last December when it signed a two-year deal at ABC Studios and sold its first TV project, a contemporary re-imagining of Alexandre Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo, to ABC. The project, Revenge, was picked up to pilot and then series and now, The New York Times is calling it, “Gossip Girl tailored to this economy, with just enough campy suspense to be enjoyable!”

I know, I know, the teenage Twilight flashbacks are inevitable, but, the reference does have a genuine reason; Temple Hill Entertainment was one of the studios behind the teen phenomena, Twilight!

I simply can’t wait for this Drop of Heaven!!!
